Calabash achieve a waste recycling award

Calabash work with First Mile work to provide recycling services for our clients and we’re proud to have been recognised with an award.

“Congratulations on a fantastic year recycling waste, achieving 134 tonnes CO2 offset (there will be 134 less tonnes of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that there would otherwise have been), saving 796 trees, not to mention ensuring the non-recyclable stuff doesn’t end up on a landfill site!” – The First Mile Team

At a glance:

We make it easy for retail stores to dispose waste and recycle as much of it as possible, ensuring low costs and collection times to suit.

The recycling service includes all paper, plastic, card, metal and glass and is an easy way of reaching high standards of recycling with minimal fuss. It is taken to a state-of-the-art materials recovery facility where it is sorted and sent back into manufacturing.

Recycling:

Copier paper – white or coloured

Process:

Mixed recycling is collected by carbon neutral fleet and taken for sorting at a state-of-the-art material recovery facility.

The facility uses high tech systems to sort your recyclable material into 14 different streams. A wide range of technology is used to separate materials, including infrared systems to identify plastic types and eddy currents to separate metals. Material is then collected, baled and sent to be recycled into new products.

Calabash actively seek to help our clients save money and reduce their environmental impact. The award confirms this.
